GPS & GPS
Global Positioning System
and
God's Positioning System.
GPS modernization:
According to reports I've read, on July 17th 1995 the GPS
design goals were completed and reached Full Operational
Capability. Now in the YEAR OF OUR LORD 2008, Global Positioning
Systems are used in cars, planes, missiles, smart bombs,
even cell phones. Just to mention a few. They're so neat. One
can hardly get lost anymore. You can know where your are at
anytime, and so can others know where you are. A modern car can
even be monitored from the GPS system. Even check the air
pressure in your tires. My little Ole GPS even talks to me.
Tells me when and where to turn, whether left or right, how fast
I'm going, and when I'll arrive. If I
make a wrong turn, it tells me to make a U-turn as soon as
possible. Some will even give the weather and traffic conditions
along the way. If I'm away from home I just tell it to take me
there. It knows the way. It's better than my wife, who's a excellent back seat
driver. Man has really gotten smart??? Just how long has this
technology really been around and is it discussed in the Bible?
Well I think so.
GPS in the Bible:
Jer 8:7 Yea, the stork in the
heaven knoweth her appointed[1] times; and the
turtle[2] and the crane and the swallow observe the time of
their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.
Is God telling us that the
birds are wiser that us humans?? It seems that animal life has
no problem understanding God. They're eager to do His will. Is
this verse talking of bird migration?
1 "APPOINTED": 4150. mow'ed, mo-ade'; or
mo'ed mo-ade'; or (fem.) mow'adah (H2 Chron. 8 : 13), mo-aw-daw';
from H3259; prop. an appointment, i.e. a fixed time or season;
spec. a festival; conventionally a year; by implication, an
assembly (as convened for a definite purpose); technically the
congregation; by extension, the place of meeting; also a signal
(as appointed beforehand):--appointed (sign, time), (place of,
solemn) assembly, congregation, (set, solemn) feast, (appointed,
due) season, solemn (-ity), synagogue, (set) time (appointed).
2 "TURTLE": 8449. towr, tore; or tor,
tore; prob. the same as H8447; a ring-dove, often (fig.)
as a term of endearment:--(turtle) dove.
..... A turtle dove. A bird.
Appointed times and the time of their
coming?
We know that seasonal timing is
important to the migration of birds and is related to the
likelihood that the necessities of life will be available at the
time of their arrival at the point of destination. But
how do they know where their destination is and how do they stay
on course? Experiments have been performed, taking birds
thousands of miles from their nest, just to have them return in
a very short period of time. I have personally watched as
homing doves were released in an environment strange to them. It
was neat to watch as they circled two or three times, I guess
getting their relative direction and position, then fly off toward home. Mankind has
discovered that bird navigational techniques include, Sun
Compass, Star Compass, Odor Map, Magnetic Map, and Magnetic
Compass. GPS. GOD'S POSITIONAL SYSTEM. And it's been
around a long long time. As mankind digs deeper into bird
migration, it's better understood but the mystery of it still
remains, and seems to be more compounded. Do a study on
navigation and you'll find it to be more complicated than you
think. There are three things you must know at all times. The
destination point, where you are, and how to figure out where
you are. It's not hard to do with man's modern GPS, and mankind
has been doing it for a long time. The old fashioned way. But
birds????? Can't mankind come up with anything new? Seems all
we're able to do is make discoveries.
Eccl 1:9 The thing that hath been,
it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which
shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.
Eccl 1:10 Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is
new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us.
Eccl 1:11 There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall
there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that
shall come after. God asking Job a question:
Job 39:26 Doth the hawk fly by thy wisdom, and stretch her
wings toward the south?
Bird migration? In the fall
of the year when birds head south. Like in Jeremiah 8:7, the
hawk has it's appointed time.
Isa 43:16 Thus saith the LORD,
which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the
mighty waters;
Are these migratory paths
for fish? Easy routes for ships to travel?
This next three verses show
the control God has over the birds.
Exo 16:12 I have heard the
murmurings of the children of Israel: speak unto them, saying, At
even ye shall eat flesh, and in the morning ye shall be filled with
bread; and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God.
Exo 16:13 And it came to pass, that at even the quails came up,
and covered the camp: and in the morning the dew lay round about
the host. Same event:
Num 11:31 And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought
quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a
day's journey on this side, and as it were a day's journey on the
other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high
upon the face of the earth.
One cubit can be anywhere
from 1.5 to 2 feet. Birds 3 to 4 feet deep on the ground. Enough
to feed approximately 2.1 million people.
Just like a person with a GPS, that can't hide
from those in charge, we can't hide from the One whose
really in charge!
Psa 94:11 The LORD knoweth the
thoughts of man, that they are vanity.
1 Cor 3:20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise,
that they are vain.
For God to know our
thoughts, He must know where we are. More of God's Positioning
System.
Jesus knew the thoughts of men.
Mat 9:4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said,
Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
King David Talking:
Psa 139:6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I
cannot attain unto it.
Psa 139:7 Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I
flee from thy presence?
Psa 139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my
bed in hell, behold, thou art there.
Psa 139:9 If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the
uttermost parts of the sea;
Psa 139:10 Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand
shall hold me.
We can't get away from GOD.
His GPS is much too good for that.
Luke 12:24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither
have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye
better than the fowls?
Speaking of things being
around for a long time:
John 1:1 In the beginning was the
Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us,
(and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and truth.
Rev 19:11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and
he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in
righteousness he doth judge and make war.
Rev 19:12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were
many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he
himself.
Rev 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and
his name is called The Word of God.
Jesus is The Living
Word. We have an old saying, That's it! or Boy, she's it!
..... Well, Jesus, is IT!!!
The internal guidance
system that God built into birds helps to insure their well
being. They can't read but we can. He has supplied us with a
guidance system. It's called The Word Of God. It tells us
the three things we must know at all times. The
destination point, where we are, and how to figure out where we
are on our journey through life. It tells us the turns we should
and shouldn't make. It's very detailed in describing the
conditions along the way and the end results of making the right
and wrong turns. If we do make a wrong turn, it tells us to make
a U-turn as soon as possible. In other words, repent. It's our
navigational system for life. Our real GPS. God's Positioning
System for our soul. With it we're assured of reaching the
proper destination, which is home, or better said, Heaven. If
you're away from home just ask IT to take you there. IT knows
the way.
Thanks, for allowing me, to share
this with you. Remember, to always, study to show thyself approved unto God, a
workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto
more ungodliness.
In His Word,
